The independent Polish studio Baltoro Games was founded in 2008. Over the years, this team from the city of Krakow has delivered a number of titles, including Urban Flow from 2020 which was an arcade-logic game. Pixel Cafe described here, on the other hand, is a production from the border of simulations, time management and adventure games.

Gameplay

In Pixel Cafe we most often watch the action from a camera placed above our head. In some moments of the adventure the game may work like a visual novel, using static screens presenting locations and close-ups of almost motionless silhouettes of people participating in a given scene.

The game takes us to the fictional city of Karstok with a socialist past and a capitalist future. The story told in the game focuses on the character of a girl, whom we accompany in her maturation and search for a place in the world, and consequently - building relationships and overcoming encountered difficulties.

Barista's career

The driving force of the game is working in bars and cafes. We serve customers, brewing coffee for them based on ever new recipes, and also conduct conversations, gradually pushing the story forward. During breaks from work, we can dedicate ourselves to renovating our grandmother's house (furnishing it and decorating it with posters) and reminiscing about the main character's grandparents.
