Release Date: May 20, 2016
A modern remake of one of the most controversial games in gaming history. Originally, the title came out in 1997 as a debut production from the developer Running With Scissors. Both the gameplay and the premise were inspired by the phrase “going postal” which means to become uncontrollably angry and violent as a result of working a stressful job.
Postal: Redux is the remake of a controversial action game developed by Running With Scissors. It was banned in many countries due to its sheer amount of aimless violence, though regardless it still became a cult classic with a devoted fanbase. The remake was created by the developers of the original game (as well as the entire series), who intended to modernize it for their audience.
The game's title refers to the term "going postal", originating from the United States. Said term refers to people who committed violent acts due to tension and stress experienced during work. Such situations were prevalent in 1983-1997, when, in twenty similar incidents, the US Postal Service workers shot dead over 40 people in total. The game's playable character is "The Dude", suffering from a similar frenzy, prowling the city streets to murder anyone in his path.
The game takes place in numerous varied locations, in which the protagonist vents his emotions. Completing a stage requires a specific number of points, which are earned mostly by - as you've probably guessed - killing people. This can be done in a number of ways, using various weaponry, including pistols, shotguns, rifles, gasoline bottles, landmines, grenades, grenade launchers, rocket launchers and flamethrowers.
Unlike the two previous instalments, which were first-person and third-person action games, Postal: Redux is fully isometric, just like the original. The title runs on Unreal Engine 4. The locations were much improved, while the character models were made completely anew. Nevertheless, the game maintains the original's unique atmosphere. The campaign has been supplemented with an additional option of local and online co-op.

Game Ratings for Postal: Redux Video Game.
ActionTrip: 6.2 / 10 by Uros "Vader" Pavlovic
We understand what Running With Scissors wanted to achieve with this game, but it's fairly obvious they did not quite push themselves to incoporate any features that would make Postal Redux stand out in a highly competitive scene PC indie games.
Use a Potion: 5.4 / 10
Postal Redux lives up to its reputation of ultra-violence, but its dated gameplay mechanics means it’s not always all that fun to play. I’ll admit that it certainly isn’t an awful game and the revamped visuals and controls go a long way in modernising the experience for new players, but outside of the initial shock value there’s nothing about the game that’ll keep you hooked in for hours on end.
Worth Playing: 5.5 / 10 by Cody Medellin
When looked at through a modern lens, it is difficult to recommend Postal Redux to anyone who didn't play the original on the PC decades ago. The early attempts at being edgy backfire now into groan-worthy territory, while the singular focus gets tiresome if you're playing through the short campaign. The inaccuracy of your guns and their muted damage makes ammo management almost impossible, while the larger hitboxes create far too many missed shots and accidental deaths. The result isn't a terrible game since there's still some grim fun to be had, but there are certainly better shooter titles out there unless you're set on experiencing the shooters of yesteryear.
