A humorous action-adventure prison escape game, based on the rules of asymmetric multiplayer. In Pritto Prisoner we can play for one of two sides. As animals, we explore the prison facility, defending ourselves from pursuing robots with our excrement. As robots, we must prevent our victims from escaping.
Prison escape is a theme regularly explored by video game creators. Although it is usually presented in a serious manner, from time to time there are productions that approach it with a sense of humor. One such game is the adventure action game titled Pritto Prisoner, made by the independent studio PinCool.
In Pritto Prisoner events are viewed from a bird's-eye perspective. The game tells the story of animals trying to escape from prison and robots doing everything they can to prevent it. The gameplay varies depending on which side of the barricade we choose.
Among the animals escaping from prison, we'll find a gangster rabbit, an influential cat, a penguin chef, a lion skilled in sword fighting, and an elephant throwing explosive decoys. Playing as these characters, we navigate the facility, complete tasks, and face challenges along the way, working closely together. All of this is to find a way to escape from the facility.
The situation is complicated by the fact that we constantly have robots on our tails, keeping order here. We deal with them by using our own... excrement. By eating and drinking, we enable our pets to "pee" and "poop." The former allows them to neutralize security cameras and cause short circuits in the robots, while doing the latter in toilets results in regaining energy. Naturally, we can also use "poop" as a weapon, using it to slow down the robots chasing us.
If we get caught, we end up in a nap room. We can wake up from sleep by completing a mini-game based on counting sheep. The number of respawns is limited, and once they are exhausted, we fall into an eternal sleep.
Additionally, we can take on the role of robots. In this case, our task is, of course, to make life as difficult as possible for the pets. To do this, we use gadgets such as a magic hand with a grabber, spacetime tunnels (which allow us to pass through walls), motion sensors, or shields to block attacks. We unlock further upgrades by collecting "poop" left by enemies.
The game allows for customizing the robot to individual needs and preferences. The upper part can be equipped with a taser or a lasso, while the lower part can have legs, wheels, or tracks.
In exchange for completing the tasks set before us, we earn coins. We spend them on various cosmetic add-ons that allow us to change the appearance of our pets and robots.
The core of Pritto Prisoner is an asymmetrical multiplayer based on 10-minute "matches," in which two people take control of robots, and four control animals escaping from prison. The game also offers cross-play functionality, allowing owners of versions on different platforms to play together. Additionally, there is a story mode waiting to be explored, which reveals the secrets of Prison Island.
The graphics of Pritto Prisoner are kept in a cartoon style. The Japanese illustrator Kanahei worked on the visuals, while the soundtrack is the work of the artist known as TeddyLoid.
