In 2016, the Nerial studio launched a series of games with mechanics inspired by the dating app Tinder, in which we made strategic decisions by moving cards of various events or characters to one side or the other (accepting or rejecting them). In the following years, the series evolved gameplay-wise and made its way to various universes - having visited ancient China in Reigns: Three Kingdoms, it made its way to the world of The Witcher in a production titled Reigns: The Witcher.

MKAU Gaming: 9 / 10 by Yasmin Noble

Reigns: The Witcher gives that weird little dopamine hit of gambling against all odds with significantly less real-world implications – maybe a little lost sleep and addiction, but redirected to a noble plight in Witcher work. For fans of the Witcher series and those looking for a short but moreish game to master, Reigns: The Witcher might be worth the fanfare.

PC is definitely not my number one choice to experience the new adventures of Geralt. Though the game captures the essence of CD Project Red's The Witcher series, at the end of the day, it's just a casual card adventure, not a full-blown RPG, and that will make it difficult to keep up with the experience longer than a short while.

  • Gameplay Mechanics: The balancing act between four stats was seen as tedious by some, with decisions feeling disconnected from the overall story progression.
  • Expectations vs. Reality: Users expecting a more traditional, story-rich RPG experience were disappointed, as the game is more of a light, casual experience rather than a deep narrative.
