Republique is a game belonging to the genre of stealth, in which we help a girl named Hope, imprisoned by the totalitarian regime. By gaining access to electronic security systems, the player has to help her escape from the sight of an all-seeing supervisor.
Republique is an action-packed adventure game developed for the PC, PS4, etc. with a focus on the sneaking aspect. The project was developed by Camouflaj studio.
The action takes place in the near future. The futuristic vision created by the authors is not optimistic and presents a totalitarian reality in which the power represented by the all-seeing supervisor controls every step of the citizens.
The campaign tells the story of a young girl named Hope, who was born in a secret research center and is used by scientists as an experimental object. We play the role of a hacker who wants to help her. In order to do this, we break into the national surveillance system and, thanks to the access to the control systems obtained in this way, we must help Hope to escape. During the adventures, we can count on the support of a man named Cooper, a member of the resistance movement, who managed to filter the facility.
In Republic, the player has no direct control over Hope's moves. Instead, we must use the options available to the hacker connected to a surveillance system. This allows him to control the electronic safety mechanisms and thus help Hope. In this way, for example, we open the door, creating a new route for the girl or we can close it, stopping the guards chasing her. We can also call elevators, turn off lights (allowing you to hide in shadows) and deactivate guard devices.
Many of the operations we need to perform are logical puzzles. There are several types of puzzles and they are repeated in more and more difficult variants. There is also no shortage of dexterity challenges, which require our activities to be properly aligned with the events on the screen. In addition, with the development of the campaign, the player receives regular access to new items and skills to make the gameplay easier.
At the same time, we have to keep in mind the possible reactions of Hope. The girl is not a robot inertly following a marked path. Instead, she has emotions and personality that influence her behavior.
