The main cons of the game

  • Repetitive Gameplay: Many players noted that the combat can become tedious, particularly due to the high health of enemies that feel like "damage sponges." The need to backtrack through previously cleared areas can also slow down the pacing.
  • Control Issues: The controls are often described as clunky or unresponsive, with some players expressing frustration over the inability to rebind keys or the awkwardness of certain inputs.
  • Enemy AI and Difficulty: Some enemies are perceived as unfair, with mechanics that can lead to frustrating encounters, especially in boss fights. This can make the game feel more punishing than fun.
  • Lack of Online Co-op: The absence of online multiplayer options is a significant drawback for many players, as the game can be more enjoyable with friends.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Customizable Controls: Players express a strong desire for the ability to remap controls, which is currently not possible.
  • Online Multiplayer: Many users were disappointed by the lack of online co-op, which limits the game's accessibility for those who want to play with friends remotely.
  • Better Balancing: Some players would like to see improvements in enemy scaling and overall balance to enhance the gameplay experience.
  • In-Game Explanations: There are complaints about the lack of clarity in how certain mechanics work, particularly regarding items and abilities, which could use more thorough explanations.

Summary

  • Overall, while River City Girls has many strengths, including its art style, humor, and co-op gameplay, it also suffers from issues related to gameplay mechanics and control design that can detract from the overall experience.
