A third-person action RPG set in a retrofuturistic universe. Robots at Midnight starts Zoe, traversing the planet Yob, facing robot hordes in search of answers.
Robots at Midnight is an action RPG game by the indie studio Finish Line Games. The team is known for such games as Cel Damage HD, Maize and Skully.
Robots at Midnight is set in a retrofuturistic universe (using the cassette futurism aesthetic). Years ago, the planet of Yob was a luxury resort, but started falling into ruin after being taken over by aggressive robots. We play as Zoe, a feisty heroine traversing the abandoned planet, facing danger, looking for answers about her past and fighting for her future.
Robots at Midnight is a third-person game. The player must traverse Yob, watching out for lurking danger and numerous robots. Aside from regular enemies, who aren't too much of a threat, Zoe must also face powerful bosses. All machines have their unique strengths and weaknesses we must learn to succeed.
Combat is fast-paced, with Zoe wielding the MITT space gauntlet, melee weapons and various combat abilities. The player must stay mobile, jumping, dodging and countering enemy attacks. As we progress further, our gauntlet's power increases, letting us face greater challenges.
Robots at Midnight features colorful, cartoonish visuals. The game's atmospheric soundtrack is reminiscent of 1980s sci-fi movies.

Game Ratings for Robots at Midnight Video Game.
NoobFeed: 70 / 100 by Mahi Araf
Robots at Midnight is fun. It nails its retro-futuristic aesthetic, its combat feels good in motion, and the story itself is worth playing the game for. Zo is a solid protagonist, and the MITT gauntlet is a clever tool that helps both exploration and combat.
Rectify Gaming: 7 / 10
Robots at Midnight is comfort food. It's not going to blow your mind or redefine what games can be, but sometimes you don't want that. Sometimes you just want to punch robots in a colorful world while searching for your dad. But combat, while fun, never evolves much beyond what you learn in the first hour.
Checkpoint Gaming: 7 / 10 by Charlie Kelly
Robots at Midnight is a solid enough romp for the action RPG space. The robot infested world of Yob is a curious and colourful place infused with retro nostalgic futurism, dusty droids and bright purple stormy skies. A lot of flowers should be given to Finish Line Games for making a palatable Soulslike that can be played by all, even offering some engaging play in the supercharged MITT abilities that have you soaring around environments or sucker punching bots. Thanks to other elements, such as a lot of stock standard combat pacing and flawed exploration, Robots at Midnight doesn't necessarily do a lot to significantly distinguish itself in the hugely populated genre crowd, but it is a different flavoured experience for the space if you're looking for yet another to eat up. It's not quite a home run, but it's a damn solid swing and crowd pleaser nevertheless.
