Rumble City, released on AND and iOS, is a turn-based strategy released in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. The game was developed by Avalanche known from the Just Cause series and it was the first mobile project of this studio.
The action of Rumble City takes place in the United States, in 1960s. Rumble City takes place in Los Poderosos - the local bike gangs fight each other to gain control over the city. The player takes on the role of the leader of one of these criminal groups and their task is to eliminate all competition. All this is presented humorous way - the game makes fun of various cliches found in Hollywood films focusing on this subject.
Long before the action of the game, our leader had a powerful gang, which struck terror throughout the city. He lost this position because of his own carelessness and now, after years, he returns to his hometown, determined to regain his former position. Therefore, the first priority in the game is to rebuild the gang, which requires recruiting old companions, as well as new potential criminals, willing to follow our instructions. Each thug has statistics and skills, which we can develop, thus increasing their effectiveness in combat.
The game boils down mainly to fighting turn-based battles with other gangs. The maps are shown in isometric projection and covered with a grid of squares. During the fights, the key role is played by the proper use of the character's skills. Moreover, the course of the battles is influenced not only by the weapons of the bandits but also their clothes - specific clothes provide various bonuses to the statistics. By winning a fight, we gain control over the next parts of the city. Our ultimate goal is to conquer all territories on the map.
