Rushing Beat is one of those series that in its home country (Japan) was released under a completely different title than in other regions. While all beat'em up items under this banner in the Land of the Cherry Blossom were called Rushing Beat, in the West they were released as Rival Turf! (1992), Brawl Brothers (1992) and The Peace Keepers (1993). The Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers described here represents the fourth entry under this banner, which unifies the naming of the series, and is developed by City Connection studio.
In Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers we watch the action from the side. During the gameplay , we take control of the heroes and heroines, in whose sk?raps we traverse the city and fight enemies.
Walking right through shopping malls, slums, subways or laboratories, we engage in dynamic duels, delivering kicks and punches with our fists, wrapping adversaries with weapons, and combining attacks in combos. There is also the possibility to attack from a jump or from a distance, or to throw adversaries into the air and throw them into the background.
We "glue" combos together by ourselves or by relying on the automatic solution, consisting of holding down the attack button and pressing the directional buttons. In addition, receiving blows and inflicting damage, we charge the fury indicator. By filling it partially, we unlock Beat Blow knocking back nearby enemies. On the other hand, when it is filled in full, we activate a mode that increases attack and defense coefficients and provides access to a special finisher (Beat Rush).
There are items scattered around the arenas, which we can use once or keep with us and use for a longer period of time. In addition, an important role is played by foodtracks, which act as checkpoints and are also a source of food that allows us to regenerate our over-taxed strength.
Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers features six playable characters with unique move sets and strengths and weaknesses. Rick Norton fights in the MMA style, Douglas Bild is a professional wrestler, Lord J. is a Koppojutsu and Jujitsu specialist, Wendy Milan is a wrestler, Kazan fights in the Togakure Ninjutsu style, while Kahlua is self-taught, making it difficult to "pigeonhole" her style.
Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers takes us to the fictional Neo-Cisco. A year ago, Rick Norton and Douglas Bild dealt with the threat of the Zeekus virus and military cyberclones... or at least it seemed that way. For the old danger is awakening once again, and the protagonists and their allies have no choice but to once again face the battle.
Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers can be played solo or in cooperative mode on a shared screen.
The graphic design of Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers is maintained in a cartoonish style.
