A 3D hack-and-slash created by Rooster Teeth Games studio. The game is based on online animated series called RWBY, but tells a completely new story featuring the heroines known from its animated predecessor: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang. The gameplay was created with a cooperation mode for 4 players in mind, while its mainstay is simple exploration and dynamic clashes with hordes of enemies.
RWBY: Grimm Eclipse for PC is a production from Rooster Teeth Games (a splinter team from Rooster Teeth Productions – an American company mainly creating machinimas). The game is based on an online animated series called RWBY. The idea was brought to life as a project of one of the fans. The brand owners quickly noticed the opportunity and decided to expand it significantly.
The plot of RWBY: Grimm Eclipse is not based on any of the episodes. The scriptwriters created a completely new storyline that nevertheless includes the previously known characters, such as Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang. Our heroes have to face new forces of Grimm and a previously unknown antagonist.
RWBY: Grimm Eclipse for PC is a 3D hack-and-slash which certain elements were inspired by such titles like Dynasty Warriors and Left 4 Dead. The gameplay is mainly designed for the online co-op mode for up to four players. At the beginning, we choose one of the heroines, each having a unique development tree. By traversing further locations and fighting numerous enemies we acquire experience points, which are spent on developing our character, which increases her fighting output, allowing her to face stronger enemies. The combat is similar to what we could have seen in aforementioned Dynasty Warriors series. The encounters are dynamic, with our party often facing hordes of enemies. Fortunately, our heroines are very agile and can use melee weapons, as well as firearms, so they can take on Grimm’s overwhelming forces.
The visuals of RWBY: Grimm Eclipse are very reminiscent of the series – in the vein of Japanese animes.
