  • Performance Issues: Some users report performance fluctuations, particularly on lower-end hardware, affecting the overall experience.
  • Quest Tracking and UI Issues: Players have expressed frustration with the quest tracking system and the user interface, citing it as confusing and lacking in quality-of-life features.

  • Ship Combat and Raiding Mechanics: Many users feel that the game should include ship combat and the ability to raid other ships or NPCs, which is a fundamental aspect of pirate games.
  • More Variety in Enemies and Quests: There are calls for a greater variety of enemies, more engaging quest lines, and improved quest markers to enhance the gameplay experience.
  • Quality-of-Life Improvements: Players have suggested the need for bulk crafting options, better inventory management, and a more intuitive UI to streamline gameplay.
  • Difficulty and Consequences for Death: Some players desire a more challenging experience, with meaningful consequences for dying, to add tension and excitement to the gameplay.

Summary

  • Overall, while Salt 2: Shores of Gold has received praise for its exploration, crafting, and relaxing gameplay, it faces criticism for missing core pirate elements like ship combat and for various performance and design issues that detract from the overall experience.
