Launched in 2004, the comic book series titled Scott Pilgrim, by Canadian artist Bryan Lee O'Malley, has seen adaptations over the years in the form of film, series and video games.

One of the latter is a walking brawler (beat'em up) titled Scott Pilgrim EX, developed by Tribute Games studio, whose portfolio includes such projects as Mercenary Kings and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. The author of the original, however, oversaw its storyline.

Gameplay in a sk?ra of different characters

In Scott Pilgrim EX we watch the action from the side. The production puts at our disposal a number of playable characters, each with their own fighting style, range of attacks and set of strengths and weaknesses. In addition to Scott Pilgrim, we will find here, among others, such personalities as Ramona Flowers, Matthew Patel (who can, among other things, distract enemies and set traps for them) or the mechanical Robot-01.

Twisted Voxel: 8 / 10 by Ali Haider

A neon-soaked, pixel-perfect evolution, Scott Pilgrim EX thrives on Tribute Games’ fluid combat and a stellar Anamanaguchi score. While its meta-narrative leans heavily on fanservice and the campaign is over too quickly, the surprisingly deep character variety and chaotic co-op make it a quintessential, if breezy, brawler.

Daily Mirror: 4 / 5 by Aaron Potter

While the boss difficulty spikes can be annoying and some references are often at risk of being too deep, it’s safe to say I’m in lesbians with Scott Pilgrim EX.
