Sea Salt is a combination of action and strategy game in a truly Lovecraft's atmosphere. The Swedish independent studio YCJY Games, which previously created The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human, is responsible for it.

Plot

The plot of Sea Salt revolves around an ancient god, Dagon, who is endowed with the power to create and control an army of bloodthirsty minions. The eternal one emerged from the ocean and demands what belongs to him, getting rid of the unfaithful standing in his way with the use of minions from hell. Dagon is motivated by a desire for revenge on the Archbishop who refused to offer him a sacrifice.

Mechanics

The gameplay consists mainly in giving orders to monster crowds and liquidating encountered enemies, from which the gold falls out to unlock new creatures. At the beginning of the game we choose the apostle, who differs in the set of armies and fighting style. You can also earn new cards that give access to more powerful units. They make it easier to fight with hunters and special bosses who are able to take advantage of their surroundings and have unique abilities, which requires the player to use different tactics. The deck is made up of 16 different cards.

Technical aspects

Sea Salt offers 2D graphics in retro pixelart style. It brings to mind games from the early 1990s. In the design of the locations, the creators referred to the Victorian period, but in the creation of the world and characters one can feel strong inspirations from H.P. Lovecraft works.
