SEGA Football Club Champions 2025 is a football manager game developed and published by Sega. This production belongs to the series developed since 1996, known under the full name Pro Soccer Club o Tsukurou! (or abbreviated - SakaTsuku). Although it is based on Football Manager and offers quite similar gameplay, it is not part of the series developed by Sports Interactive studio. The game is distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions.

Gameplay

The main pillars of SEGA Football Club Champions 2025 are FIFPRO player data and official licenses. Thanks to them, the game allows us to compete for victory in various leagues, including European ones, as well as in the J League and K League (Japanese and Korean leagues).

Climbing the career ladder

We take on the role of a football team manager, climbing the career ladder with our team. All matters related to managing the football club rest on our shoulders. When building our team from scratch, we need to not only decide on line-ups and formations for upcoming matches, but also set training plans for our players, make transfers and recruit footballers (led by young talents), and even develop our own facilities - from training grounds to world-famous football stadiums.

Taking care of finances

Of course, we need money for all of this. We start modestly with a team celebrating triumphs on the local field, but as we progress we participate in increasingly prestigious competitions, led by matches at the international level. Over time it makes us richer.

The main cons of the game

  • Pay-to-Win (P2W) Mechanics: The game has been heavily criticized for its gacha system, which many players feel pushes them to spend money to be competitive. The low chances of acquiring good players and the need for multiple copies to strengthen them (Limit Break) were major points of contention.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Realistic Management Mechanics: Many users expressed disappointment that the game does not offer true football management experiences akin to Football Manager, feeling that it leans more towards a mobile gacha game rather than a strategic management simulator.
  • Variety in Gameplay: Players desired more diverse gameplay options, including the ability to play against other real players and a more engaging career mode.
  • Improved User Interface: A significant number of reviews mentioned that the user interface was clunky and not optimized for PC, detracting from the overall experience.
  • Additional Leagues and Teams: Users wished for the inclusion of more leagues and teams, particularly from Europe, to enhance the game's appeal and variety.

Summary

  • Overall, while some players found enjoyment in SEGA FOOTBALL CLUB CHAMPIONS, the overwhelming sentiment among users was negative, primarily due to its monetization strategies, technical issues, and lack of depth in gameplay.
