Serum PC

Serum is a survival game in which we fight for life in a world overrun by the title substance. The game was developed by indie Polish studio Game Island, and it was published by Toplitz Productions.

Plot

In Serum, we play the protagonist who woke up in a place that is completely foreign to him. The protagonist quickly notices the implant in his body, and discovers that the ubiquitous green fluorescent liquid is the key to his survival. Thus begins his race against time, during which all his actions have one purpose - to get more serum.

Game mechanics

In Serum , we observe the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). Wandering through a variety of post-apocalyptic locations, we mainly deal with the search for the title substance, as well as the gathering of useful resources. Resources are used primarily to make weapons and tools; in addition, the crafting system implemented in the game allows us to produce new, special types of serum. In addition, from time to time we encounter puzzles; by activating various mechanisms, we gain access to rooms or caches in which valuable items may be waiting for us.

In addition, we use the materials we acquire to build and expand our shelter. It serves as our home base, and is one of the few places where we can feel safe. This is because the world of the game is full of dangers, among which mutated animals are leading the way. We eliminate enemies by making use of whatever we can find or create, which means cold weapons and throwing weapons. We can further strengthen the tools of murder with serums. We can further improve our weapons with serum.

As we progress, we also learn new skills that increase our chances of survival. While doing all this, we should not forget to monitor our hero's health. This is important because taking serum causes undesirable mutations in him, which we should avoid.

Technical aspects

Graphics in Serum looks good. Both the design of the locations, which are densely covered with vegetation, and the protagonist's equipment, which is full of details, can be pleased.
