Story

The action of Shardlight takes place at an unspecified time in the future, in which humanity almost vanished when the nuclear bombs fell. The community raised on and out of the ruins is controlled by the authoritarian government. Rich aristocrats are given loads of food and vaccination in exchange for their support. The poor, however, live in extreme poverty, hunger, and sicknesses that make their lives short. You assume the role of Amy Wellard, a young woman infected with a deadly virus. She takes up work for the detested government, because only in this way she can participate in the vaccine lottery, in which the winner receives a cure for all deadly illnesses troubling people after the war. Knowing that winning is virtually impossible, she takes matters into her own hands in order to obtain the vaccine.
