Turn-based strategy with simulation elements, in which we play the role of managers of underground shelters. In the game Shelter Manager we have to deal with issues related to taking care of bunker inhabitants, as well as with expanding our complex and plundering others.
Shelter Manager is a turn-based strategy with simulation elements. It was developed by Hamsters Gaming, an independent studio.
As the title suggests, Shelter Manager lets us test ourselves in the role of the manager of an underground shelter. We'll learn later about the reason why we were sentenced to live in a bunker (whether it was a pandemic, nuclear war or a threat from outer space). The important thing now is to survive, create a thriving complex, and then start expanding your sphere of influence to other such places.
Shelter Manager is a side scrolling game. The gameplay here takes place in turn-based mode, and during it we have full control over a huge bunker. The main thing in our mind should be its inhabitants, whose needs we must take care of, providing them with all the comforts. Keeping an eye on the indicators showing the level of their morale and productivity, making sure that they have constant access to food and electricity, and finally providing them with an adequate amount of sleep, we can be sure that their performance will be at the right level (beneficial for us).
Over time, we gather resources that we can use to improve the already existing rooms, as well as to expand the bunker with more rooms. A total of fourteen places are waiting for use here and it's up to us whether we'll use them for housing, or decide to create in them, for example, laboratories or food blocks. The game also allows us to decide on the specialization of the entire bunker, choosing between work and science.
The inhabitants, however, can not remain underground all the time. With time, it turns out that in order to survive it is necessary to train and arm subordinates and send them on missions consisting of searching and robbing other such places, because they may turn out to be a source of valuable resources. However, you should be on guard, because your bunker can also fall victim to an attack. Therefore, you should think about its defense in advance.
In Shelter Manager there are two game modes waiting to be tested. In campaign mode we gradually learn the rules of the game, while in sandbox mode we are thrown into the deep end; before this happens, we can choose from several apocalypse scenarios.
Graphics of Shelter Manager is in simple, but clear and quite pleasing to the eye low poly style (its elements are based on relatively small number of clearly visible polygons).
