Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Persian Carpet is the production of Frogwares Game Development, an Irish studio specialising in adventure games inspired by the classics of English literature (including Journey to the Center of the Earth, Dracula: Origin and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes). The title is addressed to so-called occasional players (casual).

The plot is not an adaptation of any of the stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle and was created for the game. The action takes place in 1896. Sherlock Holmes is asked to help solve the mystery of the death of a young painter whose corpse was wrapped in a stolen Persian carpet. The famous detective and his faithful companion, Dr. Watson, decide to take care of the case.

The Holmes manager has to find clues and determine who the killer is. To this end, he visits successive locations, performs tasks such as "hidden objects", and solves various logical puzzles in the form of mini games. An important place in the game turns out to be the detective's house on Baker Street 221b, where he analyses the evidence gathered and tries to link facts and people.

As both co-operations eventually ended in trouble, the Ukrainian developers finally decided to release their games on their own.
