Developed by the independent studio Klonk Games, Shift Happens is a hybrid of a platformer and a logic game. Thanks to the cooperation with Deck13 Interactive – the team that co-developed Lords of the Fallen with CI Games – Shift Happens is published on, among others, PC, PS4 and XONE.

Plot

In Shift Happens, the player takes control of two main heroes. Bismo and Plom are jelly-like humanoid creatures. An accident connected the heroes with each other, enabling them to exchange their mass indices and thus travel through the colourful world.

Mechanics

Shift Happens features the side-view. The backbone of the game consists of going through another locations, collecting valuable coins, and solving more or less demanding logic puzzles. During gameplay, you will visit a high-tech laboratory, a lush forest, dry canyons, and ice-bound caves.

Solving particular puzzles requires close cooperation between the two heroes – for example, the heavier one can throw his lighter pal over precipices or move environment elements, while the other can jump higher and get to hard-to-reach places. Still, they need to keep their guards up, as subsequent levels are filled with inventive traps.

Game modes

Shift Happens released on PC, PS4 and XONE is designed for two – you and your friend can play via the Internet or in the split-screen mode. Multiplayer features over 40 diverse levels, whereas solo players can enjoy 30. All of this is complemented with time challenges and eight bonus missions (four for each game mode).

Technical aspects

From the technical point of view, Shift Happens may stand proudly among the hits of this genre. The title features pleasant graphics with warm colours. The advanced physics engine is certainly a great asset – it ensures proper performance of the heroes’ bodies and interaction with environment, depending on their current size and weight.
