The action starts shortly after the events of its predecessor, where the galaxy devastated by a zombie invasion becomes the arena of a ruthless struggle for the scarce natural resources.
Space Pirates and Zombies 2 for PC is a space strategy enriched with shooter and RPG elements. It was developed by MinMax Games, the creators of the original.
The action starts shortly after the events of the original. The threat of zombie invasion was averted but the galaxy is in a terrible shape: rubble is all that remains of the infrastructure and fuel became a rare and very expensive resource. All of this caused a war for resources.
The game is a sandbox genre hybrid in which we explore the open world, acquire raw materials, construct ships, and fight numerous enemies. In Space Pirates and Zombies 2, we are no chosen ones and there are 200 other captains in the galaxy. Each of them has his own artificial intelligence module and private plans and ambitions. They have exactly the same abilities as the protagonist. As a result, the game world dynamically changes due to the player’s and AI’s decisions—territories change owners at wars, factions and space structures are created. Moreover, some story events take place whether we are ready for them or not.
Similarly to the original, combat combines elements of arcade shooters with a strategic aspect that involves commanding units that accompany our captain. Each element of the virtual world and the ships that traverse it can be damaged and destroyed. In battles, parts come off hulls which can be gathered after the battle is over and use them to enhance our own vessels. Starting out, we have a small fleet at our disposal but with time it develops and thus allows us to take on more difficult missions.
One of the most important novelties of Space Pirates and Zombies 2 for PC is the fully three-dimensional graphics engine. It replaced the 2D graphics of the original although the game still is still held in 2D stylistic. Moreover, the developers introduced a multiplayer mode that lets us compete against other players or join forces to fight the artificial intelligence together.
