Spellcrafter is a dark fantasy RPG with a tactical turn-based combat system and a unique way to cast spells. It was created by the native independent Jujubee studio, known for its futuristic Flashout races and a number of mobile productions.
In the game we play a character representing one of the three races: man, necromancers or elves and set out to explore the magical world of fantasy in order to collect experience and gold, interact with the encountered independent characters and perform various quests, often requiring difficult moral choices. In the course of the game we successively build a stronger and stronger team, recruiting various heroes with different skills. The fight against the monsters encountered takes place in a turn-based system, in which a lot of emphasis is placed on tactical depth and strategic elements.
In the course of the game, it turns out that by deciding to help an unknown and mysterious girl, we unconsciously contribute to saving the world. The game is divided into 3 acts, each of which is part of a larger story about the nature of things, power and morality. Each act is additionally composed of 3 different levels, taking place in different locations and sceneries.
Characteristic feature of the game is a unique system of casting spells. We use them by using the mouse cursor on the screen to make gestures corresponding to each spell. The strength of a spell and the effect it will have on our opponent depends on the speed and accuracy of a given gesture.
The action of the game can be seen in a view from above, resembling typical contemporary productions under the sign of hack'n'slash. Waltzes and cast spells are accompanied by colourful flashes and special effects.
