Star Birds is a game combining elements of simulation and strategy titles, in which we take control of birds exploring space in search of valuable resources.

The project is the result of a collaboration between the independent team Toukana Interactive, which previously delivered Dorfromantik, and the German animation studio kurzgesagt - in a nutshell, known for its popular science activities through a YouTube channel.

Gameplay

In Star Birds our primary goal is to search for asteroids rich with raw materials, such as ice and various metals. For this purpose, we scan cosmic boulders, which are differentiated in terms of surface shape and structure, and then we erect mining outposts and production plants on them.

Special pipes are used to transport goods across the surfaces of asteroids, connecting individual objects with each other. The flow of goods in space is ensured by the trade routes we establish, along which rockets move. Over time, their network begins to cover more territory, creating an increasingly complex production network.

Our command center is a space base where we can undertake successive missions to meet the diverse needs of our bird characters. It is also a place where research on new technologies is conducted, allowing us to increase the efficiency of individual facilities, create increasingly advanced products, and expand our sphere of influence. Once we have exhausted the potential of our star system, nothing stops us from conquering more and discovering the secrets of the galaxy one system at a time.

The production processes presented in the game and the resources used in them are inspired by science, but the authors did not bother to realistically reflect the laws of physics or the proportions of individual objects.

Graphics

The graphics in Star Birds are maintained in a cartoon style known from films and other projects of kurzgesagt - in a nutshell. We can freely rotate asteroids, gradually filling every available piece of land on them with objects.
