Stars! Supernova Genesis is a sequel to the turn-based strategy game Stars! Similarly to its predecessor, the action was placed in space. The authors claim that in its production they drew the best from such classics as Master of Orion, Alpha Centauri, Ascendancy or M.U.L.E, while avoiding their mistakes.

The action of the game takes place thousands of years after the events known from Stars! Our scientists have discovered that a nearby star will turn into a supernova in about 50 years, carrying destruction and annihilation. In the face of the inevitable disaster, we must collect the resources of our race, leave our homes and find a new place to live in other, unhazardous regions of space. It will not be an easy task. In our journey we will encounter many hostile foreign races and other unforeseen adversities.

The game takes place in space divided by different empires and their spheres of influence. As in reality, the strength of individual empires does not depend on their size but on their wealth, technology and internal functioning, so that small but organized empires can compete effectively with huge molochs. These are not the only forces we will have to deal with. A very dangerous group are also cosmic pirates, with whom we can fight or make arrangements.

The game is characterized by high complexity, advanced diplomatic options (which also include unclean techniques such as espionage and sabotage) and commercial (you can sell, exchange and borrow almost anything, raw materials, ships and cash). Its advantages also include very complex technological trees, different for different breeds and a special system of designing own ships.
