Manor Lords is a medieval strategy game that combines a strategic layer (village/city building) with spectacular real-time tactical battles. The creation and release of this game is the responsibility of independent Polish developer Slavic Magic (it is a one-man studio) and it is his debut project.

The game is not set in any particular age or place, but is loosely inspired by historical realities (feudalistic Europe from the 11th to 15th century).

In Manor Lords, the action is usually observed from above, but the player has control over the camera - he can zoom in or out to look at individual buildings or look at the battlefield from a slightly different perspective. The gameplay in this game can be roughly divided into two parts - strategic and tactical.

In the first layer, we build and develop our own medieval village, which in time turns into a city. We decide what kind of buildings we will erect (each of them has its own purpose), we also have full freedom in terms of where they will be located - in Manor Lords we do not build on the basis of any grid, each property can be rotated and erected at will (the game is realistic, therefore it is worth taking into account the terrain and contact with trade routes).

In the game you can find the seasons and changing weather. We also have to deal with hunger, wars or plagues.

The second part of the game is tactical battles reminiscent of what we know from the Total War cycle - we have a number of different units at our disposal, such as archers, light and heavy infantry. The player has the ability to set up unit formations and give orders to troops during the clash.

Game modes

We can only play Manor Lords alone. The core of the game is the single player mode.

Technical aspects

Manor Lords has a very nice, three-dimensional graphic design. The game stands out for its incredible level of realism and detail - for strategy game. Locations look very reliable and models of individual buildings or armies have been prepared with great care (although animations of the latter leave a little to be desired).

Expectations: 9.3 / 10 calculated out of 92 players' votes.
