A third-person farming RPG with life simulation elements. Starsand Island takes us to the titular island - it's where we can explore, farm, fish, and cultivate relationships with NPCs. The game can be played solo or in cooperation.
Agricultural RPGs with life simulation elements form a significant branch of the video game industry, large enough to accommodate numerous productions of this type. The independent studio Seed Lab decided to take advantage of this opportunity, leading to the creation of the project Starsand Island. The development of this game was made possible partially thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
In Starsand Island events are viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we take on the role of a character who arrives on the titular island to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, start living in harmony with nature, and make new acquaintances.
The game allows us to run our own farm, where we cultivate the land and harvest crops in the form of fruits or vegetables, as well as raise animals. Additionally, we can spend time fishing, discovering minerals, collecting tropical plants, or searching for colorful corals and hidden pearls.
We explore the game world both on foot and by using mounts or other means of transportation. We can ride horses, sheep, and other creatures inhabiting the island. Moreover, the game features a longboard, scooter, or even a boat.
During our escapades, we must stay vigilant. Although the place is picturesque and friendly, from time to time we may encounter opponents with whom we engage in dynamic fights. In between adventures, we rest in our own home, which we build from scratch and decorate as we please.
Relationships with NPCs play an important role in Starsand Island. By interacting with them, we build bonds, eventually gaining loyal friends and even sparking love. These relationships are not one-sided, as NPCs can also seek contact with us. Moreover, the way we spend time with them reflects their unique personality traits.
Starsand Island can be played solo or in online coop mode.
The graphics in Starsand Island are styled in a manner inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli.

Game Ratings for Starsand Island Video Game.
Game8: 70 / 100 by Allisandra Reyes
Starsand Island is frustrating precisely because its foundation is so promising. Its satisfying grind, interconnected progression, generous resources, and charming presentation provide the makings of a genuinely enjoyable farming RPG, but a hollow narrative, underdeveloped relationships, and an unfortunate number of bugs keep it from reaching its potential. There is enough here for dedicated farming game fans to enjoy, but at 1.0, it feels like a game that needed more time to grow into the experience it was promising to be.

Starsand Island surprised me with just how deep of a life sim it is. There are still many bugs that need to be ironed out but they didn't stop me from sinking countless hours into its delightful world as it does a lot of things exceptionally well. ???
