Attempting to spend the night in a shopping mall after it closes can have serious legal consequences. This is not the only risk, as in some cases, such an endeavor can end tragically. Especially if, after dark, the corridors of such a place begin to be haunted by creatures known as employees, who go on the hunt when the lights go out.

We can experience this by playing the cooperative survival horror game titled Storebound. It was developed by the independent French studio Embers, which also created the game Strayed Lights. The creators were inspired by creepypastas (thrilling stories spread via the Internet) such as The Backrooms and SCP-3008.

Gameplay

In Storebound the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP).

A night inside the shopping mall

We take control of characters trying to find a way to escape from a large shopping mall. The layout of the mall is procedurally generated each time we start the game, so each journey looks slightly different from the previous one. During the day, our task is to explore the building in search of valuable items and resources that increase our chances of survival. At night, however, we become "prey" for the monsters hunting us – the employees.

The necessity of cooperation

Given that the monsters have an advantage over us in terms of strength and size, the key to success is maintaining silence, sneaking behind enemies, using ventilation shafts, as well as closely cooperating with other players to overcome terrain obstacles or solve environmental puzzles.
