A combination of an adventure and a logic game, serving as an indirect sequel to Strange Horticulture. Strange Antiquities is about running a shop with occult antique items. We can help the residents of the Undermere town, troubled with various supernatural problems. Our character must also take care of the cat.
In 2022, the independent studio Bad Viking, founded by two brothers, delivered the project Strange Horticulture. It was an adventure-logic game that allowed us to run a plant shop and also discover the grim secrets of the fictional Victorian town of Undermere. Three years later, this production was followed by a direct sequel titled Strange Antiquities.
In Strange Antiquities we return to the fictional Victorian town of Undermere, located on the border of the human world and the one beyond it. This time we take on the role of a freshly baked employee of a shop with occult antiques. The owner went on a journey to find a way to deal with the dark forces plaguing the city, and our task is to properly take care of his business.
We deal with various occult items during the game. We need to examine, identify and catalog individual antiques based on the information contained in the illustrated books available in the store. This is important because over the next few days we are visited by people struggling with various problems, and correctly identifying them and finding an effective remedy for each of them makes us a good worker.
The game allows us to mock the situation, or even deliberately condemn clients to further torment, but we must be vigilant, as making mistakes can cost us dearly. It can also affect the course of the story and the fate of the inhabitants of Undermere.
This is not the end, as the shop owner also left us hand-drawn maps, which we can use during the search for new artifacts or investigation of rumors. We can explore the mysteries of the object itself. Amidst all this, one should not forget about the cat Jupiter, who demands daily attention, especially scratching behind the ears.

Game Ratings for Strange Antiquities Video Game.
Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Michelle See-Tho
In Strange Antiquities, Bad Viking expands the rich world of Strange Horticulture – this time in an antique shop specialising in the occult. The puzzles are cryptic but rarely skull-cracking, forming an addictive gameplay loop: who knew hunting down magic antiques to solve customers' conundrums could be so satisfying? The whole thing is cloaked in a gripping mystery narrative, which you can influence with the right (or wrong) occult oddity. And with the possibility of multiple endings, replay value is high – at least for those of you who want to see just how much strangeness is in store.
The Punished Backlog: 8.5 / 10 by Amanda Tien
Strange Antiquities is a commendable sequel and also a great standalone game for anyone who wants a quiet but compelling title. Most “quiet” games are cutesy cozy, and so Strange Antiquities fits a very unique niche of being low-key while still interesting and spooky. All that said, the lack of a new game+ mode is a disappointment given the rich and compelling storytelling. The setting is delightful, and makes me wonder if we’ll be so lucky as to return to Undermere for a third time — but for the residents’ sake, I almost hope we don’t! I’m not sure this poor town can handle yet another curse.
