Strinova

Strinova is an online shooter based on the original idea of allowing players to quickly switch between two and three-dimensional forms of the characters they control. The game is distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions, and was developed by the Chinese studio iDreamSky.

Gameplay

In Strinova we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we take on the role of characters known as Superstrings. Each of them fights in their own way, has their preferred weapons, and unique skills.

The pillar of the game are multiplayer battles. We fight them leading the chosen "Superstring" into battle. The keys to success on the battlefield are skillful juggling of the abilities of the controlled hero or heroine, as well using a diverse arsenal. If we want to win, we have to make use of the ability to switch from three-dimensional character model to its two-dimensional "sprite" (and vice versa).

This mechanic can provide us with a significant tactical advantage. In a two-dimensional form, we can access hard-to-reach places (for example, by using narrow passages or moving along the surface of walls). We also become very difficult targets to hit. Its downside is the lack of the ability to fire.

As we progress, we gain energy points that we can spend on various enhancements for our character, increasing their combat potential through the development of weapons, skills and armor.

Game modes

Strinova was designed with online multiplayer fun in mind. There are various modes to check out, such as Demolition (the attackers try to plant and detonate two explosive charges, while the defenders do everything to prevent this) or even Scrimmage, which is a deathmatch for three teams (the team that first scores 50 kills wins).

The graphic design of Strinova was maintained in manga style.
