The picture tells the story of the crew of one of the U-Boot submarines, patrolling the waters of the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. During the game we find ourselves on the board of this type of machine and take part in military operations, performing various missions. Das Boot: The VR Game is, as the name suggests, a game designed for virtual reality goggles.

A side-scrolling action game taking the players to a post-apocalyptic future, in which, due to major climate change, most of the planet has been flooded by the end of the 21st century. The few who survived the cataclysm are traversing the deep oceans aboard special submarines. During the exploration, one has to hunt for machines, which have adapted to the new conditions by taking on forms resembling sea creatures.

The player assumes the role of a German captain of U-Boot and completes missions given to him by the fleet command. The missions are frequently based on historical events and take place during historical campaigns such as the Battle of the Atlantic. The gameplay is based on maneuvering the submarine and controlling the weapons installed in it.
