Subway Midnight is an adventure game in the style of psychological horror. It was developed by an independent developer called Bubby Darkstar.

Plot

The action of the game Subway Midnight takes place in a gloomy train. Travelling through haunted train depot, we meet ghosts that live there and we try to help them. At the same time we have to do everything not to fall victim to the stalker following us step by step, because otherwise we can join the group of regular passengers.

Game mechanics

In Subway Midnight we watch the action mostly from behind the third person perspective (TPP), although in some moments the camera changes location. We explore successive railroad cars, which seems to have no end, we talk with ghosts and solve various puzzles. Although the first puzzles aren't too difficult, their level of complexity increases with time. What doesn't make things easier is the fact that we can't look around freely, which makes it difficult to find useful clues. From time to time the gameplay is varied by platform game sections, in which we have to show dexterity and reflexes.

Our actions lead to one of three endings. The number of solved puzzles and ghosts we manage to help also has an impact on which of the endings we'll see.

Technical aspects

Graphics of Subway Midnight connects cartoon, 2D character models with 3D locations. The whole was kept in a gloomy style, which is complemented by an unsettling soundtrack.
