Release Date: 2026
The fifth mainline installment of an RTS series set during World War 2. Sudden Strike 5 gives us a choice between over 300 units and features 25 campaign missions. We have a lot of freedom in terms of how we want to complete objectives and the game allows us to prepare individual tactics.
Kite Games studio began its adventure in the video game industry on a high note. The developers had to take over from the Fireglow team and continue the series of tactical RTS games set during World War II, titled Sudden Strike.
Sudden Strike 4 was developed by them and released in August 2017 on PC and PlayStation 4, while in June 2018 it hit Xbox One. Although in the following years the team focused on other projects, they eventually returned to the fold of this renowned brand, creating the aforementioned Sudden Strike 5.
In Sudden Strike 5 we watch the events from a bird's eye view. The game allows us to freely zoom in and out the camera.
W can take control over the Allies, Soviets and Germans in the game. The game consists of 25 missions that take place on extensive and diverse maps. The list of locations includes the Western and Eastern fronts of World War II, Africa, as well as Italy (led by Monte Cassino).
In addition to this, we have access to over 300 units, including over 190 vehicles and machines, as well as 110 infantry units. Available machines include Sherman tanks and T-34s or the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter. A significant change compared to the previous installment of the series is the ability to acquire units during missions, in exchange for prestige points collected along the way.
How we approach the objectives set before us largely depends on our individual tactics. We can gain an advantage by taking control of key locations such as field headquarters, supply warehouses or railway stations, conducting reconnaissance and sabotage behind enemy lines, or focusing on rapid offensive actions.
Our tactics are reflected by the leaders we choose, each of whom possesses unique abilities suitable for a specific style of play - offensive, defensive, or tactical. These skills include things like the ability to use smoke grenades on the battlefield or a bonus to artillery accuracy.
We can play Sudden Strike 5 alone (competing against units controlled by AI) or compete with other players in an online multiplayer mode.
