Super Glyph Quest is a hybrid genre combining the mechanisms of match-3 logic games with powerful RPG elements. Players take on the role of a magician who fights monsters with spells activated by creating strings of at least three symbols of the same type.
Super Glyph Quest, released on AND and iOS, is a mobile match-3 puzzle game. The title was produced by a group of former Bullfrog studio employees, led by Alex Trowers. This is a direct continuation of Glyph Quest.
Like the first part, the production combines logical gameplay modeled on the Bejeweled series with RPG elements. We play the role of a hired magician, who earns a living by fighting monsters.
At the top of the screen, there are colorful symbols representing elements and components. We cast spells by matching them at least three of them. The more symbols we combine at once, the more damage will deal with our spell. Winning is rewarded with experience points and gold. The first one is used to extend the health bar and gain access to better equipment. We spend gold on useful items.
What distinguishes Super Glyph Quest from typical RPG hybrids and puzzle games is the level of complexity of its combat system. After some time, the magician gains the power to create combinations of elements and this is when the real fun begins. Different combinations give very different spells and only intensive experimentation with different formulas allows you to discover the most powerful spells.
Compared to the first part, Super Glyph Quest offers a lot of new locations, items and monsters as well as two additional elements. Also, enemies can finally attack in groups. The game also has a story campaign during which, for the first time in the series, we can interact with independent characters.
