The third installement in a series of very demanding platforming games. The biggest novelty in Super Meat Boy 3D is the switch to a three-dimensional environment. The game remained similar to previous entries in other ways, once again testing our skills, patience and reflexes.
Super Meat Boy 3D is the third installment of the brutal and extremely challenging platforming series, started in 2010 by the game Super Meat Boy. The game is the result of a collaboration between independent studios Sluggerfly and Team Meat.
As the title suggests, Super Meat Boy 3D transfers the classic gameplay scheme developed for the earlier parts of the series to a three-dimensional environment.
We watch the action from a bird's eye view and we play as a hero who is a piece of meat, setting off to rescue his beloved made of bandages. He plans to accomplish this before she falls victim to an evil fetus in a jar dressed in a tuxedo. The adventure leads the protagonist through various locations, such as a burning forest, a landfill, or a futuristic forge.
Similar to the previous installments of the series, the game is characterized by a very high difficulty level, testing our patience, dexterity, and reflexes. While going through different levels, we have to jump on platforms, avoid ubiquitous traps, and bypass various obstacles. All of this needs to be done not only quickly, but also precisely, because otherwise our character will end up badly, shredded by a saw or cut by a laser. As if that wasn't enough, there are also bosses here that we have to face.
Although the game "takes no prisoners", its creators made an effort to treat us fairly, and failures result solely from the mistakes we make.
The graphic design of Super Meat Boy 3D is maintained in a colorful, cartoonish style that may evoke associations with Pixar animations. Nonetheless, the game is brutal and the blood of the titular hero flows thickly. We can also witness pieces of his body fly across the boards.

Game Ratings for Super Meat Boy 3D Video Game.
Use a Potion: 9 / 10
Taking a beloved, precision-heavy 2D classic and transforming it into a 3D experience was a bit of a gamble, but damn, Super Meat Boy 3D pulls it off with some seriously satisfying style. It easily lives up to the original’s legendary status – it’s packed with a staggering amount of content, fluid movement that perfectly captures the action of the original game, and, perhaps most importantly, it’s just as satisfyingly challenging as before. Whether you’re a long-time Super Meat Boy fan chasing milliseconds on a speedrun or a glutton for punishment facing the grinder for the first time, Super Meat Boy 3D is a bloody brilliant platformer that you absolutely need to play.
The GameSlayer: 7.5 / 10 by Callum Marshall
What's commendable about this 3D iteration of Super Meat Boy is just how similar it feels to the 2D original. It's addictive, visually appealing, and the leap to 3D offers new ways to approach levels that the original could never. But, this comes with some drawbacks like cheap deaths, less precise movement, and levels that feel far less challenging overall. That said, this is still easily the best SMB game outside the original, and well worth checking out for newcomers and SMB veterans alike.
TechRaptor: 6.5 / 10
Filled with secrets and creativity, Super Meat Boy 3D is ultimately betrayed by slippery controls that cause a much less fun frustration than its predecessor.
