In video games, tavern work is usually presented from the perspective of the manager of such a facility. One of the productions that allow us to look at this occupation from a different side is Tavern Talk, a visual novel from independent German studio Gentle Troll Entertainment.
In Tavern Talk, we take on the role of a tavern worker in a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired fantasy world. Instead of leaning over budget issues and filling the backroom with ingredients, the task awaiting you at the Wanderer's Tavern is serving drinks to guests and listening to what they have to say.
During the game, we are visited by various characters. They are differentiated by their appearance, personality and the achievements they want to celebrate or the problems they try to deal with. We get to know them better by having conversations with them, as well as preparing various drinks for them.
The latter requires a bit of attention, because by giving guests certain decoctions, we determine their fates in different ways. Although initially the selection of drinks is relatively small, as you progress, other concoctions join the potion of boiling fury and dancing swords.
Scraps of information gleaned from tavern regulars can be combined to learn more about the world around you. In addition, based on them we create tasks that we can then assign to visiting adventurers. The game is worth the candle, because in return we can count on decorations that allow us to adorn the interior of the inn.
The graphic design of Tavern Talk game is kept in a cartoonish style.
