Productions known as "god games," which allow for so-called "playing god," have accustomed us to gameplay focused on influencing the lives of beings under our control (primarily humans, but not exclusively). Terra Firma 2 described here, created by the independent studio Working as Intended, approaches the matter differently. It is acting as a kind of simulator of the forces of nature.

Gameplay

In Terra Firma 2 the action is viewed from a bird's-eye perspective.

Shaping the world

The game allows us to shape the terrain's topography on maps according to our own preferences, with a maximum area of 16,000 square kilometers. The tools available in the game enable manipulation of tectonic plates and the creation of mountain ranges or rift valleys, as well as controlling the seasons, which affect temperature, precipitation, and water levels.

Simulation of natural processes

Once the selected area looks as we envisioned, we can hand over control to systems simulating natural processes, such as the formation of forests, deserts, or tundras, the appearance of plants and animals in a given area, and the creation of rivers and lakes, or even mountain erosion.
