Tesla vs Lovecraft is a crazy, two-dimensional shooter, the story of which confronts the fantastic versions of two historical figures: Nikola Tesla and H.P. Lovecraft. The game can be characterized as a twin-stick shooter, while the action is seen from a top-down perspective. The project was developed by 10tons Ltd., the authors of the appreciated Crimsonland and Neon Chrome.
In Tesla vs Lovecraft, the player assumes the role of Nikola Tesla – a famed XIX century inventor. On the eve of his greatest invention, Tesla’s lab is raided by… wicked creatures sent by H.P. Lovecraft. The beasts burn his laboratory down and steal his most valued inventions. The inventor, armed with a powerful mech, embarks on a journey to retrieve his possessions.
The gameplay of Tesla vs Lovecraft is based on constant elimination of incoming waves of opponents. The player receives access to various, uncanny means of destruction, such as the powerful Tesla-mech armed with two energy miniguns, deadly Death Ray Gun, Tesla Coil, X-Ray Blade, as well as a device allowing quantum teleportation. The weapons are unlocked in the course of the game. The gameplay itself is very fast and intense.
Tesla vs Lovecraft offers single player as well as multiplayer modes, including local cooperation in split-screen or common screen.
Even in view of the limitations imposed by the gameplay style, Tesla vs Lovecraft offers fully-fledged three-dimensional visuals. The authors have made an effort to make the graphics atmospheric and expressive which is attained through vivid colors and a remarkable artistic style.
