Tetris Forever is a compilation of over 15 different titles from the classic logic games series. It also features documentary videos, allowing to learn about the "fathers" of the brand - Alexey Pajitnov and Henk Rogers (founder of The Tetris Company).
Tetris Forever is the third part of a series of interactive documentaries from 2023, describing the history of video games. This project was created by Digital Eclipse studio. It takes on the Tetris brand and was released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the creation of the first logic game under this brand.
Tetris Forever consists of two main elements. The first one is a compilation of over 15 installments from the series, starting with the first Tetris from 1984 (created by Alexey Pajitnov and released for Elektronika 60 computers), through the multiplayer-focused Tetris Battle Gaiden, ending with the "explosive" Super Bombliss. The novelty is Tetris Time Warp, a special game that allows us to jump in real time between different eras of Tetris.
Each game introduces some nuances, but the core of the gameplay in them is the same - arranging blocks of various shapes falling from the top of the screen. We need to do this in such a way that they fill the horizontal line, causing it to disappear. The more lines we manage to "erase" in this way, the better result we will achieve. On the other hand, we cannot allow the blocks we arrange to reach the top edge of the game field, because then the game ends with our loss.
The second component of Tetris Forever is over an hour of documentary films presenting the profiles of Alexey Pajitnov and Henk Rogers - the founder of The Tetris Company. Video materials allow us to get to know these characters better and take a look behind the scenes of their works.
In Tetris Forever we can play alone or in local multiplayer mode for up to 4 people.

Game Ratings for Tetris Forever Video Game.
Hardcore Gamer: 4 / 5 by Jordan Helm
While notable absentees and a glaring lack of 21st century representation are hard to miss, Digital Eclipse's third entry in the Gold Master Series with Tetris Forever still stands as a welcome, at times eye-opening, look-back on the legacy of one of gaming's greatest IPs. A staunch reminder as to the simplicity, addiction and clever, mechanical wit at the heart of the falling-block premise. A premise whose game selection, while flawed, still carries with it an interesting look back on the many ways, good and bad, Tetris aimed to evolve and refine itself over the many years. Though it may retread old ground in parts, it's the wealth of material as much the care for the smaller details, where Digital Eclipse's reverence is most strongly felt. Not as complete or as comprehensive as one might've liked, Tetris Forever is still nonetheless a pleasant, worthwhile look back on one of gaming's and indeed all of culture's most-prized creations.
Shacknews: 9 / 10 by Lucas White
If you’ve read the biographical comic book from Box Brown, watched YouTube documentaries or the recent movie and think you’ve seen the best parts of the Tetris story, turns out there was plenty of compelling ground left to cover. Tetris Forever tells a complete story, from the origins to the current Tetris Company, 40 years later. The new interview footage, filmic editing, curated game placement, and supplemental materials are arranged with tremendous skill and care. I can’t gush enough about how Tetris Forever takes the concept and structure of Gold Master and nails it, showing that weaving the “museum” content and gameplay together to tell a singular story leads to something that’s fun and intellectually gratifying at the same time.
Checkpoint Gaming: 7.5 / 10 by Omi Koulas
Tetris Forever is best approached as a tribute to the cultural legacy of Tetris. It's not the definitive way to play the game, but it's an essential experience for anyone interested in gaming history. Just don't go in expecting the perfect Tetris fix-this is a museum exhibit, not an arcade.
