Thieves Guilld is another large DLC for MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online developed by Zenimax Online Studios and released on PC, XONE and PS4. The expansion is completely free for all subscribers of The Elder Scrolls Online. Other players can buy it for an equivalent of 2,000 Crowns, i.e. the in-game currency.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Thieves Guild tells a story of the titular Thieves Guild from Abah’s Landing, which is an infamous organization that brings together pickpocketers, burglars, and common thieves. For some time the Guild has been hunted by a mercenary group known as the Iron Wheel. This merciless organization will stop at nothing to bring the Thieves Guild down as retaliation for a bold, yet tragic heist. Playing as a new recruit of the Guild, the player has to sneak along rooftops and recover lost treasures to help the organization restore its reputation.
Thieves Guild DLC introduces a host of innovations and changes, most of which result from becoming, for the first time in history of The Elder Scrolls Online, a member of the Thieves Guild. First and foremost, there is a new desert area called Hew’s Bane, where the Guild’s home of Abah’s Landing lies. From this place you can access all the new locations that lie in the southern Peninsula of Hammerfell. The game offers new challenges, opponents and bosses, as well as equipment including weapons and armor that fit the DLC’s theme. Some changes were also necessary to the character skill tree, which now offers passive skills available only to the Guild’s members. On top of that there is a new Mow of Lorkhaj trial for up to 12 players.
An integral part of the Thieves Guild DLC for PC, XONE and PS4 is a large update that introduces some fixes and improvements to the original game. Technology-wise the most important ones are: 64-client support (on PC), improved matchmaker (Looking for Group 2.0), and prioritization of animations during combat, which aim to solve problems with lagging. Besides, the developers improved some elements of the main story campaign set in Cyrodiil, and introduced better gameplay balance, especially when it comes down to combat.
