The Legend of Heroes is a series of jRPG games, developed since 1989. Over the years it has lived to see a number of sub-cycles, which include Trails Through Daybreak. The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon described here is a continuation of the second installment of the latter, and the Japanese studio Nihon Falcom is behind its development.
As in the previous game under this banner, in The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon the action is viewed from behind the protagonists' backs (TPP). The adventure takes us through the republic of Calvard on the continent of Zemuria. We get to know the plot from the perspective of three characters, learning the intertwining stories prepared for each of them.
The authors put at our disposal Van Arkride, the main character of Trails Through Daybreak, Ashen Chevalier Rean Schwarzer and Kevin Graham's father. The protagonists have been diversified in terms of fighting style and skills, as well as strengths and weaknesses. As you traverse the land, complete tasks and push the plot forward, recruit team members, fight enemies and develop your charges.
As in Trails Through Daybreak, we will find two combat systems in The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon. The creators allow us both to take part in dynamic clashes with enemies in real time, and to switch to command mode, where we make moves in turn-based mode, strategically planning attacks.
A number of new features have been prepared for the game, including Shard Commands tied to individual characters, an Awakening system that gives selected heroes a temporary boost in combat potential, as well as the ability to slow down time while increasing the strength of our attacks and increasing the effectiveness of stunning enemies.
In addition, the game includes the so-called Grim Garten. We are talking about a special dungeon, where we go in the company of members of a self-composed team to oppose the machinations of Ouroboros.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon unfolds a vision of the impending end of the continent of Zemuria, which casts a shadow over the first expedition into space prepared by humanity. The game's main characters - the aforementioned Van Arkride, Rean Schwarzer and Kevin Graham - must face the dark secrets of the world around them.
The visuals of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon game are maintained in a manga style.

Game Ratings for The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon Video Game.
TheSixthAxis: 8 / 10 by Miguel Moran
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon isn't the most gripping narrative, in part due to how much it relies on knowledge of so many other games to fully understand. What it does do right, though, is that it's an incredibly fun and addictive JRPG experience that I couldn't get enough of.
COGconnected: 84 / 100 by Nicola Kapron
All in all, The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon is a great entry in the franchise. It sounds good, looks good, and the narrative is truly kicking into gear. New players will definitely be confused, but this is the thirteenth game in the series. Just play the rest, I promise they’re good too.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is another confident entry in a series. It offers a deep, flexible battle system, a massive amount of content, and a story that rewards long-time fans with meaningful payoffs and familiar faces. It’s not the best place to start your Trails journey, and newcomers may feel lost despite the helpful recaps. Consider jumping on Trails in the Sky also available on Switch 2 first. For existing fans, or players who already know they enjoy this style of RPG, there’s a lot to appreciate here. Personally, I’m far from a complete Trails expert, but every entry I’ve played has won me over through its combat systems and world-building. The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon continues that trend. It may not surprise you, but it delivers exactly what it promises.
