Gameplay

The Lord of the Rings Online: Legacy of Morgoth is the twelfth expansion for the 2007 MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online. Its development was handled by Standing Stone Games studio, which oversees the entire project.

Plot

The Legacy of Morgoth expansion takes us to new territories of Near Harad, full of hot deserts and treacherous swamps. They are located south of the lands of Gondor and are divided into four regions: Ambarul, Khud Zagin, Imhular, and Urash Dar.

In addition to new locations in the expansion, the storyline of The Song of Waves and Wind is also continued. To learn about its next stage, we need to visit Jaitha in front of the Meeting Hall in Umbar Baharbel.

Gameplay

The land of Near Harad introduced in the expansion becomes available at character level 150 and offers over 350 quests, including a new raid and instances in the Ikorban Valley. In one of them, we descend into the depths of the Ashunug salt mine, where we fight with the worshippers of Usan-kuni along with other players.

Additionally, the add-on updates the appearance of elves, giving them similarly extensive customization options to the human race. Cosmetics are automatically applied after logging in, and additional appearance change options are available at hairdressers located in the main settlements.

Three new faction reputations have also been added: Phetekari of Umbar (Keepers of Tales), Adurhid, and Ikorbani (Shagan People). The last faction is the main one for the expansion. This means most of the quests introduced in the add-on allow us to earn reputation points for it. For the remaining two, we earn points through exploration and searching for magical vessels.

The last significant improvement is the Baubles system. It does not directly affect the gameplay, but it allows for the use of things like fireworks, face paints or costumes in a new way, without taking up space for spells and skills.
