The sequel to Tangle Tower and the third installment in a series of point-and-click adventure games originating from 2014. The Mermaid's Tongue stars Detective Grimoire and Sally, investigating the death of the captain of the world's strangest submarine.
The Mermaid's Tongue is the third installment in a series of point-and-click adventure games, a sequel to 2014's Detective Grimoire and 2019's Tangle Tower. Like the previous installments, it was developed by SFB Games.
The returning protagonists of The Mermaid's Tongue are Detective Grimoire and Sally. The game is set on the world's strangest submarine, the captain of which, Magnus Mortuga, died under unexplained circumstances. Various rumors circulated about the captain; some thought him a vampire, others thought him cursed, others yet an immortal time traveler. Yet another mystery is the fact his corpse's been found next to an unsealed, ancient stone cauldron...
Detective Grimoire and Sally must find out what exactly happened within the locked captain's cabin.
The gameplay of The Mermaid's Tongue revolves around investigating. The player must traverse the submarine, talk to various characters (many of whom act suspiciously), gather clues, evidence and useful items. There are also many different puzzles to solve.
The Mermaid's Tongue features colorful, cartoonish visuals and a slightly caricatural artstyle. The dialogue is fully voiced, while the atmospheric music was performed by the Budapest Art Orchestra.

Game Ratings for The Mermaid Mask Video Game.
Kakuchopurei: 90 / 100 by Jonathan Toyad
The Mermaid Mask is a well-written adventure title with a quirky and fun cast of characters and weirdos, great pacing, brain-taxing logic puzzles that fit with the world it's in, and a juicy mystery with good amounts of deducing and second-guessing on the player's side.
Game Informer: 9 / 10 by Charles Harte
The Mermaid Mask is the best Detective Grimoire adventure yet. Its art, music, voice cast, and puzzle design are all worthy of praise, but they're held together by a great story and a fun script, complete with all the quips and twists I've come to expect from SFB's mystery series.
Console Creatures: 8 / 10 by Bobby Pashalidis
The Mermaid Mask is a smart and thoughtful game where you’ll use your deduction skills to uncover the mystery behind the death of Captain Mortuga. In that journey, you’ll experience various twists and hard truths that come together to tell a smart story well worth the price of admission, and it’s bolstered by a wonderful cast that is having a blast playing these characters.
