The Trail: A Frontier Journey is a simple survival game released on AND and iOS in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. The production was developed by 22cans studio, the authors of Godus and Curiosity.
We play as a traveler who, after a long sea voyage, arrives at the shores of the New World and begins exploration. The land we reach isn't based on any real place, but you can see stylistic elements taken from North America during the colonization period.
In The Trail: A Frontier Journey, available on AND and iOS, the goal is to travel along a linear trail, deep into the land. Along the way, we must manage our character's energy and materials. Our character must also rest from time to time. All this takes place at a very calm pace, and the game is more focused on providing a relaxing atmosphere than challenging us.
During the game, the player travels from town to town, making stops on the way in the camps, where they can sleep and regenerate the energy needed for the march. We also collect various items. Some of them we use ourselves and others can be sold. The game also offers a simple crafting system, allowing you to create new objects from raw materials.
There were also elements of multiplayer, allowing users to join the community of the town and work together to develop it by erecting new buildings, improving existing ones and investing in infrastructure.
The graphics of The Trail: A Frontier Journey are its advantage. The game offers very attractive graphics designed made in a minimalist style, in which both characters and locations were made in full 3D using simple blocks with bright colors.
