A first-person walking simulator with a horror twist. In Watching Woods: The Louse we assume the role of a twelve-year-old boy who explores an insect-infested Eastern European village, trying to uncover its terrifying secrets.
Eastern Europe is a fitting setting for horror creators. The team at Fleer Art Studio, known for their shooter titled FastShoot, decided to tap into the potential of this part of the world by setting their walking simulator there, in a game titled Watching Woods: The Louse.
In Watching Woods: The Louse, events are viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). During the game we visit a small village overshadowed by large chimneys from a nearby city and explore abandoned mines beneath it. As we wander through these locations, we gradually uncover their secrets. Along the way, we try to determine whether the dark intrigue we've become entangled in is real or just hallucinations.
In Watching Woods: The Louse we play as a twelve-year-old boy named Leva. Upon returning from the hospital, the protagonist discovers that his friend has disappeared without a trace, and school life no longer follows the familiar rhythm. To make matters worse, the area has been overrun by insects, turning the stay into a true nightmare.
The graphics of Watching Woods: The Louse are designed in a retro style. This effect is further enhanced by a distinctive "grain filter" applied to the screen.
