Townscaper VR PC

Townscaper VR is a special version of the game released in 2021, prepared for VR sets. As in the case of the original, the game was developed by indie developer Oskar Stalberg, and was published by Raw Fury Games.

Game mechanics

In Townscaper VR we are in charge of building charming towns. The whole process is extremely simple - our role is reduced only to choosing a color and clicking on the field where the building is to be constructed. If we repeatedly choose the same place, our construction will get higher and higher.

The algorithm prepared for the game selects the type of building itself (creating houses, townhouses or churches and cathedrals) based on its height and location. Besides, it coherently connects our constructions with the others, not only creating sidewalks, bridges and overpasses between them, but also filling the spaces with eye-pleasing ornaments, such as lawns or railings.

The developer has made an effort to adapt the controls as much as possible to the specifics of virtual reality sets. We look around the location by moving our head, in turn we operate the interface using motion controllers.

Technical aspects

The graphics in Townscaper VR game is made in the colorful, cartoonish style known from the original.
