Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour

Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour is a strategy game in which we control an army of small, figurative soldiers (the battlefield is actually a virtual military model). The game is a continuation of the Toy Soldiers from 2010 (in the meantime, two other instalments of the series have been released: Cold War and War Chest). The game was developed by Signal Studios.

Plot

The action of Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour was set in the realities of World War II - or at least it is set on a mlitary model inspired by this conflict.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour is based on very similar assumptions as in the previous versions of the series. This is an RTS where the player's task is to lead an army of plastic soldiers and defeat the enemy. We use various types of units and equipment for this purpose. It is worth noting that this time we do not focus solely on defence - we have troops at our disposal that can take over and control the area.

Players are given the opportunity to recreate key moments of World War II, such as the assault on the beach in Normandy or the evacuation in Dunkirk. Units and equipment can be upgraded. There is also an option to take direct control of each of your units on the battlefield (then the game is a bit like what we know from the third person shooters). So success requires not only a good plan, but a good eye.

The devs made a few changes compared to the previous parts - they focused on interesting terrain, high destructibility of the environment, as well as advanced artificial intelligence algorithms.

Game modes

In Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour we can play both alone and with others. In addition to singleplayer mode, the game offers an online multiplayer. Multiplayer offers several different modes (e.g. cooperation and competition).

Technical aspects

Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour has pretty, three-dimensional graphics. The graphics has a very characteristic style - the battlefield actually resembles a military model pulled out alive from the modelling enthusiast's room. The whole thing, however, is additionally enriched with animations and spectacular light effects.
