Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Resuce is a platform game based on the animated movie Toy Story 2. The title was developed by Traveller's Tales.

Story

The main character of Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue is Buzz Lightyear. When his friend Sheriff Woody is kidnapped by Al McWhiggin, the protagonist has no choice but to set out to rescue him. Fortunately, he is not alone in his quest, as he is accompanied by his faithful allies, i.e. Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, Rex and Hamm.

Mechanics

In Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue we observe the action from a camera suspended behind the hero's back. The game consists of fifteen levels - in the course of the game, we not only explore them but also fight various enemies, among which the powerful bosses stand out. Our primary goal is to collect the so-called Pizza Planet tokens, thanks to which we open the way to subsequent stages; we acquire them in several ways - by defeating a miniboss, solving a puzzle, helping friends, facing the challenges ahead of us (for example in the form of races) or by exchanging for one of them fifty coins collected along the way.

Of course, Buzz is not defenseless, as he uses both laser guns (thanks to which he eliminates opponents from a safe distance) and melee attacks in combat. In addition, the hero is able to execute double jumps, which enable him to get into hard to reach places. There are also improvements that we gain after finding the missing parts of Mr. Potato Head's body (for example, a shield protecting Buzz against enemy attacks, rocket boots allowing for higher jumps, disc launchers or hook ropes) and power-ups that temporarily increase the hero's combat potential.

h3>Technical aspects

Three-dimensional visuals of Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue adopts a style similar to that of the animated prototype. The devs have made every effort to render the appearance of both the individual characters and the locations we visit as faithfully as possible. It is also worth noting that on the plot is presented through cutscenes borrowed from the film.
