Turn-based tactical games have accustomed us to the idea that the key to success lies primarily in the proper positioning of units relative to opponents, as well as skillfully juggling character abilities and leveraging their strengths. Veterum, made by the independent studio Crasleen Games (also known for the genre-related Drums of War), significantly expands the range of variables we need to pay attention to in order to succeed on the battlefield.

Gameplay

In Veterum the action is viewed from a bird's-eye perspective. The adventure takes us through an open world covered with a grid of hexagonal fields. During the game we lead a team of characters who explore locations, complete missions, and most importantly, fight encountered enemies.

Turn-based combat

Battles are conducted in a turn-based mode. Before starting a particular skirmish, we can not only decide who will participate but also use a one-time scroll that allows us to summon rain, poison enemies, or even to build a catapult.
