Whirlwind Over Vietnam PC

Whirlwind of Vietnam is a virtual simulator of combat helicopter operations during the Vietnam War. Programmers responsible for the preparation of the game are programmers responsible in the past for a recognized flight simulator called IL-2 Sturmovik. The publisher of this title was 1C.

The game offers six different combat helicopters to choose from (from the powerful Chinooka to the AH-1 Cobra). Available helicopters differ both in appearance and behaviour during the flight. A dozen or so different missions have been assigned to the passage, e.g. together with infantry units we attack enemy positions, evacuate allied soldiers, or escort helicopters with supplies to successfully reach their destination.

An important role in the game is played by the radio, which fully reflects the realism of the battles (frequent announcements of fighting units asking for support, providing information about the location of a given unit, giving orders to players, etc.). The possibility of changing the position in the helicopter is also a big curiosity. From the remote control the player sitting at the computer becomes, for example, a board shooter.

Virtual cockpits are reproduced according to real models of military helicopters (controls, indicators, rod, etc. look the same as in a real helicopter). A lot of attention was also paid to the appearance (different uniforms, weapons) and behavior of the soldiers whom we transport or support during the struggle (during the air landing they "bet" the terrain exactly as they did in reality).

The Whirlwind of Vietnam control is designed to use the keyboard plus joystick, but players can also use the mouse. For less enthusiastic enthusiasts of simulation, the manufacturer has also provided the option of setting a simpler, more arcade control.
