White Sands is a strategic RTS set in a dystopian world. It was developed by Binge Gaming OU, also known for such games as War Room and Teleport VR.
The game is set in the near future, after Earth is devastated by a solar superstorm, the CME (Coronal Mass Ejection). The sudden increase in temperature and radiation destroys most life on the planet and mutates viruses.
When the storm comes to an end and the Earth's magnetic field regains its protective function, survivors finally emerge from the ruins. Still, the surface is nearly annihilated and merely moving across it threatens one's life. To survive this difficult period, humans settle down underground or in the skies.
We play as the commander of the Union, tasked with helping rebuilding human civilization. First, however, we must get rid of the bandits ravaging the devastated planet.
White Sands is a real-time strategy game tasking us with exploring to find new areas to settle at, providing our people with decent living conditions through base building and taking care of any and all danger by fighting AI-controlled enemies.
Most of our time will be spent on expanding our base: rescuing survivors, delivering aid to settlements, fighting for food, water and medical supplies against mutants and bandits. During combat engagements we'll make use of our troops' abilities and modern military technology. Even the best equipment may not be enough if the enemy has an advantage, so we must also think tactically.
The game's 3D visuals make use of a subdued color palette. The game makes use of the top-down perspective.
