Release Date: November 11, 2025
A 2D platformer, using inspirations from the genre's classics from the SNES era. Windswept allows us to play either alone or in coop, controlling a duck or a turtle. The main protagonists jump on platforms, avoid obstacles, deal with enemies, and also search for the way back home.
Many platforming games tell the adventures of imaginative duos. Although it might seem that a duck and a turtle cannot make a harmonious pair, Windswept from the independent studio WeatherFell tries to prove otherwise. At the same time, the game references the classics of the genre from the 1990s.
In Windswept events are viewed from the side.
The main characters of the game are a duck named Marbles and a turtle named Checkers, who were caught in a storm and now must find their way back home. Accomplishing this task is not easy, as it involves jumping on platforms, avoiding traps, and bypassing terrain obstacles, as well as dealing with enemies by jumping on their heads or simply avoiding them.
Additional challenges are posed by bosses who stand in their way. As we progress, we collect items, and seasoned players can expect additional challenges. From time to time, we also have the opportunity to play as other characters.
To overcome all difficulties, we must learn the weaknesses of the protagonists and how to leverage their strengths. Marbles makes use of its wings, which allow it to cover short distances in the air, while Checkers, thanks to its shell, can be used as a projectile launched at enemies. Since the game features a high level of difficulty, restarts are commonplace.
Windswept supports singleplayer and local coop mode on a shared screen.
The graphics of Windswept are done in pixel art style.

Game Ratings for Windswept Video Game.
DualShockers: 7.5 / 10 by Ethan Krieger
Windswept is an adorable ode to classic 1990s platformers, mostly for better, but occasionally for worse. The charming design, stellar presentation, and fluid platforming mechanics are top-notch. Assists added to the game are thoughtfully included, especially because the game gets absurdly challenging by the end of the experience. This is a case of a near-flawless first act, but a second act that will leave many setting the controller down and walking away, or abusing assists just to see the game through. I still think it's one worth checking out for retro platformer fans, but I'm a bit bummed that what felt like a certified classic initially doesn't quite stick the landing in the end.
Siliconera: 7 / 10
Windswept is a demanding platformer that can feel Nintendo Hard at times, but it could prove quite satisfying if you put the time into it.
Cat with Monocle: 3.75 / 5 by Seth Hay
Windswept is a charming, retro-inspired platformer with an upbeat soundtrack, accessibility options, tag-team mechanics, and adorable pixel art. However, players should be prepared for a challenging experience, as the game can be frustrating for all.
